imasu & arimasu: how to say "I have something" I forgot what's wrong, and how to say it right: "Here is a pen" "Here is the cat" "The cat lives here" and: "I have a pen" "I have a cat" Do I make mistake by saying "watashi wa pen o arimasu" instead of "watashi wa pen o motte imasu*? Thank you in advance!

Here is a pen pen desu Here is the cat sono neko desu The cat lives here sono neko wa koko ni sunde imasu. ※その猫が(ga) is also okay. I have a pen Watashi wa pen wo motte imasu I have a cat Watashi wa neko wo katte imasu "watashi wa pen o arimasu" is wrong. ""watashi wa pen o motte imasu" is correct.

"Here is a pen" >ここにペンがあります "Here is the cat" >ここにその猫(ねこ)がいます "The cat lives here" >その猫はここに住(す)んでいます "I have a pen" 私(わたし)はペンを持(も)っています "I have a cat" >私は猫を飼(か)っています Do I make mistake by saying "watashi wa pen o arimasu" instead of "watashi wa pen o motte imasu*? >"watashi wa pen wo arimasu" NG >"watashi wa pen wo motte imasu” OK
