I'm not Japanese, but if I wanted to say this in Japanese I would say: 新しい友達 (あたらしいともだち / atarashii tomodachi) I think you can also say: 新しく友達 ( あたらしくともだち / atarashiku tomodachi) Some native speakers, though, will be able to give you a better answer. EDIT: instead of just giving me a negative (whoever you are), why don't you give us an answer?

I would say: "atarashii tomodachi" but James is right. You should give us the whole sentence in which you want to write "new friend". It depends on the structure of the sentence...

You can either say 新しい友達”Atarashii Tomodachi” Or 新しい友人"Atarashii Yuujin" Although Tomodachi is more common and informal. If you want to say "I want to make new friends" you can say 新しい友達を作りたい”Atarashii Tomodachi wo tsukuritai”
