I've worked with youth for 14 years as a teacher, assistant, tutor, and social worker. I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, USA, and I have also spent a lot of time in Minnesota, Chicago, Washington state, Arkansas, Alaska, and Chile. My wife and I moved to Brazil 2 years ago to be close to some of her extended family. I enjoy playing music (singing, guitar, and more), rock climbing, slacklining, playing video games, hiking, cooking, and hanging out with friends. I am also passionate about human rights and social justice, and I work hard to make the world a better place.Minha atuação como professor
I became a teacher because I love learning, both for myself & helping others to do so. I have a master's in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Mathematics, and Bilingual Education. I taught reading, writing, and language-enriched math classes in dual language schools (Spanish-English) in the US for 6 years. I have other experiences as a math teacher, private tutor, and a social worker. I have learned so much as a teacher, and the most important things are:
- Teacher - student relationships based on respect and responsibility come first

Why do you want to learn English?
I cater my language lessons to your needs and goals.
I also make my lessons as interactive as possible.
We can work together to create lesson plans that are fun and interesting. We can focus on business language, reading, writing, simulations, art, music, games, shows, or just have simple conversation. I like to use games and activities that get all learners (especially kids!) moving their bodies.
Each lesson will have key words, conventions, grammar, and cultural aspects. We'll review past lessons as we go, and keep track of your progress towards your goals.Meu material de ensino

Matt is a great teacher, he is patient, knowledgeable, and full of love. He knows how to communicate with kids, is experienced in spotting the areas that need to be improved, and executing the improvement plan.
