Who am I:
✳️ I’m Pierre, a former scientist (biology / biochemistry).
✳️ I worked for 4 years in UBC Vancouver (Canada) after my PhD.
✳️ I’m a TEFL certified teacher.
✳️ I work with ADULTS.
✳️ I can talk about basic topics: travel, work, movies, nature, computers …
✳️ … but I’m also interested in more complex topics: sciences, philosophy, economics, psychology or history for example.
🤝 I like to make personalized lessons and I’ll make sure to adapt my classes to your needs and goals. If you wish to know more about how we can work together, don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.

✅ I’m very patient and I’ll let you talk as much as possible so you can have a chance to wok on your errors and gain confidence, all of this in a friendly atmosphere!

✅ I’ll correct your errors but I’ll also try to guide you so you can understand your errors and find a personalized way to avoid them.
✅ I can also help you preparing for your test (IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, etc…). We’ll work with test templates and I’ll make sure to give you a strategy to help you improve both your time management and English skills.
✅ I have experience in academic/scientific English, if you are a student preparing a thesis or a scientist wishing to publish in a scientific journal, I can help you.

Postdoctoral fellowEven though I was not teaching English, my professional experience in an English speaking Canadian province was a highly immersive experience that helped me improve my (already decent) English level up to a near native level. Moreover I had to supervise students, so I had to be attentive to their needs and address their inquiries to the best of my abilities.

Doctoral researcher (PhD candidate)My research topic consisted in exploring the mechanisms by which proteolytic enzymes can inactivate antimicrobial defenses during lung inflammation.
I had to deal with a lot of scientific English and also had the occasion to collaborate with other English speakers, students and professionals alike.

For the first time I see a teacher who is so involved in the process. Despite his initial introverted appearance, Pierre is an excellent English teacher. It quickly became clear that Pierre is friendly and approachable, and also incredibly motivating and inspiring. Pierre's teaching style is superb. He is patient, and his explanations are clear. He is always willing to go the extra mile to help you understand a word or concept.
I would recommend to anyone, regardless of their English level. He is not only engaging and friendly, but also extremely professional and dedicated to his students' improvement.
