I grew up in Colorado and speak standard American English. I worked in the energy industry, as an engineer, in logistics, as a supervisor, and now as an economist/business analyst. My degree is in chemical engineering with a focus on material science, and I formally studied Linguistics and language. I stay in shape through running, cycling and lifting weights. I like action movies, and listen regularly to music. I played several instruments in high school. I enjoy reading for self improvement as well as fiction. I bring all of this knowledge and passion to the lesson.Minha atuação como professor
I have tutored English both on and offline for 10 years. I want to help increase competency in English world wide for those who find it interesting or need it for work and studies. I also like sharing my culture with others and teaching about the array of American cultures. I have taught a variety of ages and backgrounds, and have a strong grasp of my language through my interest in grammar, colloquial expressions, comparative linguistics, and cultural and literary analysis. Cancellations/Reschedules need 24 hours in advance per Italki. If shorter notice, class should be confirmed but a makeup can be agreed upon if it takes place within 48 hours. It is the student's responsibility to work with the teacher on this. For late/no shows, I wait 15 minutes into class time, which is deducted from any make up option.

Advanced Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) - TEFL Full Circle - 2018The training included review of critical grammar concepts, lesson plan development, cultural awareness and classroom management. A final exam, hypothetical scenario lesson plan development as well as a written assignment on how cultural differences affect classroom dynamics was required. My essay was on respecting and understanding Japanese culture and how it can affect classroom dynamics for an English teacher abroad in Japan and received a rating of outstanding.

Tom is my regular teacher and he is always patients and supportive.
I'm very sure that my English has been improving a lot since I started taking his lesson.
