I've been learning Portuguese with Virginie for several months now, and I must say she is truly an excellent teacher. She has experience in teaching, explains things in a way that I can understand, and is very patient with me and my mistakes 😀. Our lessons are fun and often filled with laughter. I've been learning Portuguese with Virginie for almost five months now and it's been great! Virginie is a professional teacher, so she is well equipped to help students at all levels. I started at level zero and wanted to learn Portuguese through conversations (rather than rigid lessons and worksheets). Virginie has been great at this, and she is always eager to adapt to my preferences. I highly recommend her to all learners, regardless of level. I know it can be a bit intimidating to start a new language online, but Virginie is very approachable, patient, and supportive and makes the process very fun!

Virginie is an amazing teacher, she’s very encouraging and knowledgeable about the subject. She adapts her lessons around your preferred style of learning as well as your level which makes it fun and challenging to study the language. Moreover she’s curious about her students and you can feel her passion to help others reach their goals. There wasn’t much of a lesson plan and I felt the teacher just talked a lot on a really personal level. I felt really uncomfortable when she made assumptions about how I identify when I mentioned certain languages I speak, and asked ignorant questions about what my “real” native language is (I’m American and it’s English. I couldn’t be a native Chinese speaker if I tried and can list several languages I speak better than Chinese). At the end of the lesson, she announced to me, “I have a Vietnamese student now!” as if that had anything to do with me. It felt like she was lumping all Asian-looking people together; it was really ignorant and racist. It would have been like me saying, “I have a lesson with an Italian person now!” I felt super uncomfortable. There was a distinct lack of professionalism, structure, and common courtesy, and I felt very much that, had I not been Asian American, I would not have had to endure certain parts of this experience.
