Hello everyone, my name is Quintin and I'm from South Africa. My wife and I currently live in Cape Town. My native languages are Afrikaans and English and I also speak French. I'm an Industrial Engineer by profession and I've recently handed in my PhD. I've travelled to numerous countries such as France, Spain, the USA, Peru, and China. I enjoy learning about new cultures and food, cooking, making music, learning languages, reading and drinking good coffee.

I've worked with many engineering students, taught several students on iTalki, and I enjoy seeing people grow and develop over time. It will give me great pleasure to see you develop your linguistic skills. I will always motivate you to try and then we will celebrate all your successes, no matter how small. My goal is to empower you to believe in yourself and make progress.
I'm very patient and speak a good level of French, so I can also help French students who are still beginners in English. We will, however, focus on informal conversation and not have grammar lessons that I teach. We can have informal conversations about topics that interest you or we can chat about a song, book, or article I have read. This will help you to develop the ability to speak about various topics spontaneously. You will talk most of the time and I will correct you without interrupting too much and add these corrections to a Google Doc that we share. I'll also share tips and tricks from my own language learning.
We can organise various types of sessions, such as:
- questions and answers about themes / topics of interest
- mock interviews
- general conversation about life and hobbies
- pronunciation
- mock social situations
