Amr Abdelaziz

After many years of failed attempts to learn Arabic, I finally found Amr. He helped me unlearn mistakes I thought were already set in stone, and from there, we’ve been able to continue deepening my knowledge. He uses a variety of teaching materials, so lessons are never boring, and he’s always happy to help with anything outside the regular coursework as well. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone who wants to learn the language.

My conversations with Amr are always a highlight of my week. He is a total joy to study with. I really appreciate his relaxed, flexible, and patient style of teaching, because it puts me at ease to express what I want to say without being afraid of making mistakes. I know he will fix them very kindly! And besides being a dedicated and very caring teacher, he's also a wonderful human being: warm-hearted, open-minded, and with a great sense of humor! Like every other time I have talked with him, I left today's conversation with a big smile on my face, and grateful for all we talked about, and what I learned in the process (new words, grammatical distinctions, things about him or about Egypt I did not know about). I feel very blessed to have him as a teacher and friend.

Amr is an excellent teacher of Egyptian Arabic and is always willing to discuss content found in and outside of textbooks. He is flexible, genuinely enthusiastic to see his students improve, and is consistently on time and ready to teach. I have studied Egyptian Arabic with Amr at this point for the greater part of a year, and I have no complaints about him or his methods, and have seen results in my fluency, both in and outside of the classroom.

It has been a real delight having Amr as an Arabic tutor, who has taught me all the way from scratch (save for a very shaky knowledge of the script!). My reading has improved so much thanks to his practice materials, and that is to say nothing of my grammar comprehension, thanks to his methodical, patient approach. I have gone from 0 to being able to break into a book from an Egyptian historian on Ramesses II - it’s going slowly, though I know that, as my language skills get better under Amr’s watch, I’ll be picking up the pace! I also highly value his injection of conversation topics into our classes: even once you have the fundamentals, it can be daunting to speak, but Amr’s encouraging attitude is wonderful at making you feel at ease; it is clear that he takes an interest in what his students have to say. When I was ill, he was very understanding about rescheduling and, although I am only taking MSA with him, I am sure he is a wonderful teacher of Egyptian Arabic as well: أحسنت جدا!
