Hello! Thanks for visiting my profile. My name is Joel Snipes, and I'm an American living in São Paulo, Brazil. I'm TEFL-certified and have been teaching online since early 2020. I've always loved languages, and I enjoy speaking Portuguese, Spanish, and French in addition to English.
I studied biology during college, worked in technology for 10 years, and traveled the world for a year prior to teaching. This real-world experience outside of teaching is helpful because I can work with my students in a variety of areas.
Together we will find ways to make learning English enjoyable so that you stay motivated. I believe that determination and perseverance are keys to learning a language.Minha atuação como professor
I am an easygoing teacher. I believe that adapting to a student's specific needs is essential to being a good teacher. Some students learn through conversation. Others learn through reading and writing. Still others learn through exercises.
I am supportive throughout the process. There is no shame in making mistakes. Whenever we do something new, we make mistakes, learn from them, and improve over time. We even make mistakes in our native language.
I believe that communicating effectively and naturally is the goal. There are differences between casual speaking and formal business English. It's important to understand the context and to adapt as needed.Minhas aulas e estilo de ensino
I specialize in intermediate and advanced students. I believe that after students learn the basic grammar and vocabulary in a language, they are ready to start taking 1-on-1 lessons with me.
My experience with other languages helps me understand where students are coming from. I realize that each student will find certain parts of English more difficult due to differences between the student's native language and English.
I offer conversation lessons, general lessons (for practicing different skills), and lessons for IT professionals. Whichever area is most interesting or useful to you, you can dedicate your time and energy there to help accelerate your learning process.Meu material de ensino
