Annabel

Annabel is just a fantastic teacher. When I first came to italki I was overwhelmed with the number of teachers available, and I had no idea how to go about finding the right one. After going through a few trial lessons, I decided to work with Annabel. I feel I am very lucky to have such a great teacher, she is organized, patient and, just as important to me, she makes the lessons fun. I have made incredible progress and recommend her very highly!

She speaks very well

Annabel is amazing! She's very thorough and knowledgeable, while also extremely encouraging. I also appreciate that she assigns and grades homework for me between classes, in her off time. A+ teacher!

I really appreciated how she assessed my level and adjusted my goals accordingly. When introducing new vocabulary, if I knew the word, she let me create a sentence and checked if it was correct. If I didn’t know it, she asked guiding questions to help me use it in a sentence. Since I was struggling to pick up Chinese again after ten years, she must have felt just as frustrated as I did at times, but she patiently waited and taught me kindly. Her teaching materials were also great. I’ll work hard this year so that I can say all of this in Chinese!

For this class, there was a lot of new vocabulary that I was quite unfamiliar with, however, the teacher helped to guide me with answering the questions correctly and also include the correct sentence and grammar structures to use with the new vocabulary.
