No matter what your your goals are, Ayumi-sensei is the catalyst and the illuminator to what you need to learn to truly understand Japanese. Ayumi is devoted to teaching, and that is apparent when you start your first lesson with her. If you look at her bookshelf, which you can see in each lesson, it is filled top to bottom, with Japanese textbooks. Her folders are full of personalised slides, filled with concrete definitions and easy-to-remember, and at times hilarious, illustrations and examples. You will not find a teacher that continually engages in professional development to facilitate the best learning outcomes for any student. Some notable examples: she emailed the publishers of one of the most popular Japanese textbooks in Japan to report an error, the result being that the publisher will make a correction in the next edition. Maintains relationships with other Japanese teachers and engages in discussion to maximise learning outcomes. Can you imagine anyone this dedicated?

Ayumi Sensei always does such a good job of both providing feedback and corrections but also holding an actual conversation! I was very nervous about trying to talk for a whole lesson, but all of our sessions fly by. I feel so much more confident about my ability to speak Japanese in public now.

Best Japanese teacher. I've been taking lessons with Ayumi for a long time now and she always offers easy explanations, speaks in easy-to-understand Japanese that adjusts with your level (allowing you to building speaking/listening skills), and writing notes for the vocabulary used in lessons. She also has a ton of PowerPoint slides for the grammar from Minna No Nihongo (one of the most popular texts). She really puts the "professional" in Professional tutor on iTalki. If you're serious about learning, I would recommend her, because she has all the experience and know-how to bring your Japanese to where you want it to be.

I cannot express the the devotion, expertise, and the impact of Ayumi-sensei had on my Japanese in this review. I had a fantastic first lesson with Ayumi Sensei! She was so engaging and made me feel at ease throughout the lesson. I love how she is very knowledgeable about my current standard in Japanese and provided precise feedback on what I can work on in our next lesson. looking forward to my next lesson with her!
