I've had lessons from several teachers on Italki and elsewhere and I cannot recommend Michiko sensei highly enough. Her professionalism, honed over decades of teaching experience, is immediately evident in each lesson. While her classes follow the textbook, she enriches the material with her own custom exercises and grammar activities that really enhance the learning experience. In addition to her vast knowledge and skill, she is incredibly friendly and has a great sense of humour. Her warm personality quickly puts you at ease, making every lesson enjoyable and something to look forward to. If you're looking for a Japanese teacher who combines expertise with a friendly and enjoyable teaching style, Michiko Sensei is the perfect choice. Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced Learners can all benefit as her English is also great so things can be explained in English first before moving into Japanese when you are ready.

Michiko sensei always patiently explains difficult grammar points and vocabulary to me, and provides helpful knowledge beyond the textbooks, which helps me understand more how native speakers use the language on a daily basis. Moreover, she helps me gain more confidence with my speaking by having short conversations with me at the beginning of every lesson. Thanks to Michiko sensei, I made a lot of progress since I started my Japanese learning journey with her.

Michiko sensei is always very patient to explain difficult concepts to me and to help me review my knowledge. I also enjoy practicing speaking and listening with her at the beginning of every class. Moreover, she sometimes explain to me words or phrases native speakers usually use, other than text-book vocabulary. I highly recommend Michiko sensei's lessons to you.
