Susie (Kids& Adults)

Susie is a natural-born teacher (great instincts for when to challenge me, when to indulge me, when to change topics/methods), who also extremely diligent (always prepared with materials for our lessons, and often with homework to assign, and also sends me class notes afterwards). (It's a really rare combination, as many gifted teachers don't bother putting in the work, and no amount of diligence can make up for a lack of natural talent.) Our lessons are both fun and challenging, she happily lets me steer her off topic with random questions (which she answers brilliantly), but always manages to bring us back on track, and she also frequently circles back to things I learned in previous lessons, so I don't forget. I really can't rave about her enough, although I selfishly hope she doesn't get too popular, because I don't want other people to steal my timeslots, and I plan to continue with her for a long time!

Every time I finish a lesson, I'm thinking to myself "Man, Susie is such a great teacher!" If anyone else is around, I say it out loud to them, too. (I think they're bored of hearing it now, but I never get bored of saying it.) As someone who taught for four decades myself, I really appreciate Susie's level of engagement, her energy, her consistency, her creativity, her responsiveness, her patience, her sensitivity and understanding AS WELL AS her deep knowledge of Chinese, of the common mistakes learners make, of me (personally) and the sorts of things I struggle with.... She's really an extraordinarily gifted instructor, and I've made much more progress with her guidance than I have with any other instructor (including in-person classes and in-person tutoring).

Second lesson with Susie. I already feel like I'm learning a lot with her. I'm getting great speaking and listening practice as well as grammar enhancement and vocabulary acquisition. As well as review notes after class. Would definitely recommend

The Teacher was nice and helpful. I had a great and easy time with Chinese. She had answered my question and she was patient with me.

I can really see a lot of progress that I've made with Susie. She's very easy to talk to and helps me easily acquire more words and phrases as we talk. She always has a plan, but is also very flexible, so when I ask questions that take us off track, she is happy to indulge me. I very much look forward to our lessons and am always in a great mood (feeling proud of myself!) afterwards.
