Filipino is my native language and Cebuano is my dialect. The term “Cebuano” can be used to refer to the Cebuano ethnic group found in the Philippines, as well as to their native language. The Cebuano people are believed to have originated in the area of modern-day Cebu. Tagalog is part of the Austronesian language family and provides the base for Filipino, the official language of the Philippines. Tagalog was developed over time through the influence of other culture.
