I have been teaching on italki since 2017, but I first started teaching Korean in 2011. I was in an exchange program at the university in Tanzania. I helped some children speak and write in Korean at Hangeul school. It was a fresh experience for me and I had a great time with them. After that, I traveled to Southeast Asia where I met some foreigners who were interested in Korean culture, especially K-pop and K-dramas. While talking with them, I found out people feel happy to have a conversation in a foreign language with a native speaker. (In Korean, the verb comes last). For example, in English, we say "What are you talking about?" But in Korean, we say "What kind of saying is it? (=무슨 말이에요?)" Also, in English, we say "Happy birthday." But in Korean, we say "Birthday congratulations (= 생일 축하해요)." Example like these show just how different English and Korean are.
