Did you know???
English is the third most spoken language in the world, after Mandarin and Spanish, but it has the largest vocabulary, with over 170,000 words in use today. It borrows heavily from other languages, with nearly 30% of its words coming from French and many from Latin, German, and even Hindi. Interestingly, the shortest complete sentence in English is “I am.” Plus, English is the only major language where adjectives don’t have a gender or plural form!
