The meanings overlap. They overlap a lot. The word "sensation" emphasizes the physical feeling. It's related to the word "sense." The five senses are sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. The word "feeling" emphasizes emotion. When I hug my wife, I experience the sensations of physical contact. And I experience the feeling of love. In "West Side Story," Maria looks in the mirror and says "See the pretty girl in the mirror there!" She's using the sense of sight. And the result is that the says "I feel pretty." That's a feeling.

The main differences between the two are only in the way they're written to suit the context. Sensations do mean feelings however you can't say "I have strong sensations about this girl I have just met." The correct sentence is "I have strong feelings about this girl that I have just met." The definition for senation is below. A physical feeling or perception resulting from something that happens to or comes into contact with the body. "a burning sensation in the middle of the chest" 2. A widespread reaction of interest and excitement. "his arrest for poisoning caused a sensation"
