It’s sunny today. I was at the gym, jogging on the treadmill, when a young lady hopped onto the one next to me and asked how to work the machine. Honestly, it caught me off guard—from what I’ve noticed, folks here keep to themselves. Most are glued to their headphones or staring at the floor to dodge eye contact. Aside from my dad, the only people I’d ever talked to before were the janitor and the receptionist. I hope she comes back. A lot of people I’ve seen here don’t stick around long, even though I show up every single day. Sticking with it? Way easier said than done.
