A whole slew of words mean a great deal to me

Yesterday, I came across the word "slew" in the sense of "a large amount" (<a href="https://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary/slew" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary/slew</a>;). I watched the TV series Blacklist and there the main character Raymond Reddington says: "He's responsible for a slew of other premeditated killings." (<a href="https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/03d5b5e0-73a3-4b76-b5d2-79ca7eaf3dd1" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/03d5b5e0-73a3-4b76-b5d2-79ca7eaf3dd1</a>;)

And that made me realise that "a lot" has an abundance of synonyms. There are a myriad of words that can express that there's a great deal of something. Some are neutral, some are positive, some negative or only used with a certain kind of words. You can have oodles of noodles and gobs of money. You can have a mountain of work and a heap of clothes to wash. A buffet can offer a smorgasbord of different dishes. And when everything goes wrong, you might have a spate of mishaps in life. There's really no end of words expressing a large amount.

I only mentioned a few of those words in this post. I'm sure you know many more. Which are your favourite ones? Do you know many of this kind of words also in your target languages or do you end up just saying the equivalent of "a lot" or "many"?
