Many people have said that it is impossible to lose the accent from your language of origin and therefore impossible to pick up on a new accent. Is it possible to pick up a new language without standing out as a foreigner?
It is possible. I acquired the American accent when I moved to New York and New Yorkers' way of talking fast, I mean really fast.
Yes, it is. :-) One guy I knew was even confused for a native speaker during a Japanese language competition and was almost kicked out for it. :-O He wasn't a native and even won first prize later on. :-D
Indeed, it's possible. I met a Chinese girl living in Bogota who speaks with an accent from Bogota. When you listen to her speak you can't notice that she's from China.
I have some friends who have special accent, as they r my best friends so I have been affected by them & picked up their accent :-)
