A Book Review. "La Sonrisa Etrusca" "La sonrisa etrusca" (Etruscan smile) is a novel by Jose Luís Sampedro, a well-know Spanish novelist, humanist and economist of the early 20th century. It was released in 1985 and the story is set in modern-day Milan. On the whole, most readers, praised this outstanding bookd as a haunting story. The main character is Salvatore, an old man from south Italy, staying in his son's house to visit the doctor. As a man who grew up in a small town, he doesn't like the big city lifestyle and can't also stand his daughter-in-law wears the trousers in the marriage. But with Bruno, his little grandson, he discovers some new feelings that really impress him. Although he suffers a strong pain in the stomach (nicknamed Rusca) he's willing to face it as to spend time with the baby for teaching him essential things. Anyway, the old man also have a close realtionship with a woman who knows accidentally. Even though, he's tied in some convictions, many events show him another pleasant reality. In fact, Sampedro captive the readers using some quirky style. Not only is the book light reading, but it also has funny expressions. Actually, the extremelly ordinary vocabulary of Salvatore makes increadibly alive this figure. Apparently the autor, in a simple way, achieves we imagine every situation intensively. Never have I read such hilarious and emotional book. If you like to know how people act due to customs adquired, this is your book.

As a man who grew up in a small town, he doesn't like the big city lifestyle and can't also stand that his daughter-in-law wears the trousers pants in the marriage. But with Bruno, his little grandson, he discovers some new feelings that really impress him. Although he suffers a strong pain in the stomach (nicknamed Rusca) he's willing to face it as to so he can spend time with the baby for teaching and teach him essential things.
Anyway, the old man also have has a close realtionship with a woman who he knows accidentally. Even though he's tied in some convictions, he's set in his ways, many events show him another pleasant reality/perspective.

In fact, Sampedro captivates the readers using some quirky style tecniques/with his quirky style. Not only is the book light reading, but it also has funny expressions. Actually, the extremelly ordinary vocabulary of Salvatore makes this character increadibly alive/makes this character come alive/come to life this figure. Apparently The author, in a simple way, achieves we makes us intensely imagine every situation intensively.

Never have I read such hilarious and emotional book. If you like to know see the irony in how people act due to customs they adquired, this is your book.

As a man who grew up in a small town, he doesn't like the big city lifestyle and also can't also stand his daughter-in-law who wears the trousers in the marriage. But with Bruno, his little grandson, he discovers some new feelings that really impress him/that give him a feeling of great joy. Although he suffers from a strong/severe pain in the stomach (nicknamed Rusca) he's willing to put up with it so that he can spend time with the baby and be able to teach him some moral values.
Anyway, the old man also has a close realtionship with a woman who he met by chance. Even though, he's tied to many commitments, many events show him another pleasant side of life.

In fact, Sampedro captivates the readers with his quirky style of writting. Not only is the book light reading, but it also has funny expressions. Actually, the extremelly ordinary vocabulary of Salvatore makes the characters seem increadibly alive. this figure. Apparently The autor, in a simple way, captures our imagination in every chapter.

Never have I read such an hilarious and emotional book. If you like to know how people act due to customs adquired, this is your book.

 

Well done Mila, a good exercise don't worry about all the blue alterations that I have made, they are only suggestions, as you see there are not many words in red, mistakes.

 

I realy should try to read more, I read a lot of Spanish book that are for children, but I should spend more time reading.
