Put yourself out there
I tried to find the meaning of "put yourself/myself out there" in the web. But it has a load of different meanings provided my some guys. I want to know whether they are correct or not and what the other meanings of this phrase are.
Followings are what I found in the internet and I put them here without any editing. Please help me with this phrase, I heard it first by a girl talking about her dates.
1. Putting yourself out there... meaning dont limit yourself... get to know people and try to date new people
be like - "hey yo whats up im single babay why dont u and i go out sometime"
2. to make an effort to do something to help somebody, even if it is inconvenient : "Brian's always willing to put himself out for other people."
3. "Don't put yourself out." = "You don't worry." As an example, if I came over to your house, you might want to offer me some sort of refreshment. If you offer me something to eat, I might say, "No, don't put yourself out, I just ate." If you offer to make a pot of coffee, I might say, "Thank you, but I am not staying very long, so don't put yourself out."
4. "Don't put yourself out" is also often used as a sarcastic / ironic comment:
Eg. Imagine you've spent all day doing a job for someone and suddenly they appear to ask if you'd like a cup of tea, as if they were doing you a big favour just by asking.
"Yeah, thanks, but don't put yourself out".
