I hurt / I'm hurting / I'm hurt / It hurts / It's hurting - Do I understand correctly?
This is one topic I'm confused the most even after a lot of research. Do I understand correctly?
1. I hurt. / He hurts (V1)>>> , physically injured regularly, BUT nobody uses this.
2. I hurt / He hurt (V2) >>> physically injured in the past, BUT use it with other words, not stand alone
e.g. I hurt myself falling down the stairs yesterday. / He hurt himself cutting his fingers this morning. / She hurts me.
3. I'm hurting. >>> continuous pain emotionally, upset, unhappy
e.g. I'm hurting on the inside right now. / She's been hurting since her boyfriend left her.
4. I'm hurt >>> something hurt me emotionally.
e.g. I'm hurt because my mother scolded me. / She's hurt because they don't want her to go with them.
4. It hurts >>> very common.
e.g. My hand hurts. / My feet hurt. / Ow! that hurts!
Thanks in advance.
