How can i say "Do you get it?" in Spanish?
I know that I can say "Ya caigo" to say "I get it", but is there a similar construction to ask someone "Do you get it?" or "Did you get it?" using caer?
The obvious guess would be "¿te caes? but that just doesn't seem right.
do you get it? = entiendes? (very formal) / lo pillas? ( more juvenile) / te enteras? (depending on the context a bit agressive). "ya caigo" or "ahora caigo" is used but not very common lately. you can't use it to ask if one got it. Ya caes, or caes? is not used. another way to say is: "captas?" and you answer: "ya lo capto". this is more transversal and even in polite speech is used. reckon that spanish uses a lot of pronomina and adding "lo" (it) would make the reply more colloquial, more "normal". using transitive verbs in spanish without the pronoun makes it sound totally strange or even dumb.

in Argentina it is "Entendés?"/ "Te das cuenta?"
in "Lunfardo" (a slang from Buenos Aires) it would be "La cazás?"

Hello Dora,
"Ya caigo" is correct. It means exactly :
'I see, now i understand , now i get it '
To say " Do you get it ?" :
entiendes ?
Ya caes? or Lo coges? *specially about getting the meaning of a joke*

it depends the contexte you wanna use that speach like josep said, so in dominican republic we use: lo conseguiste? for do you get it? do you find it ? or did you buy it? and so on.... May be you can use the Cherry's opinion....It depends on you what you want to say..... there's a sens you use: entiendes? also do you get it?
take care.
