I do not know Doomsville but your sentence means - "come in second place to". If Sony Ericsson play sloppy seconds to Doomsville, Doomsville will have more sales than them. Sony Ericsson will be embarrassed. There must be competition between the two, which would suggest that they are in the same line of business for this product(?)!
