I really enjoy the things that we get to talk about during speaking practice with Ruri 先生. Today, we talked about ぶんぼうぐ (stationary) and I got to learn some fun things about how stationary differs between America and Japan. I feel like I got a good opportunity to speak and share about how stationary in American can actually be a bit boring (it depends!). We covered the らどうですか grammar in Genki II。I feel like it will be really useful for me to use in my own writing practice because it's something that I think about often given my line of work. I often have to give recommendations or suggestions, so it will be a way that I can express myself in my own practice.

I had to take a short break for some work travel so I wasn't able to take a lesson with Ruri 先生 last week. I'm really grateful that we spent some time just talking, which let me bring myself back up to speed. I felt like in the last week I didn't have much of a chance to speak or even think about Japanese so I'm really grateful that the lesson was structured around easing back into what we were learning previously as well. The grammar we covered last lesson was around あげる・くれる・もらう, I feel like on my own I got turned around looking at just the material in the book. I'm happy that I got to review it today with Ruri先生 because it makes a lot more sense now after our class.

Changed books for grammar practice and it was tough 😬 But as always, Ruri thoroughly explained everything to me so I could understand why each answer was the correct choice! Won’t make the same mistake twice now 🙂↕️
With the JLPT so close, I’m getting more anxious about not doing well at the exam. But Ruri encourages me so much in each class (and through the chat) which helps me a ton 🩵
いつも通りほんんんんとにありがとうございます、るり先生 🙇🏻♀️

Today I made a few more mistakes than usual but Ruri was so supportive of me! Plus, by making mistakes is how you learn best 🙂↕️
Ruri always cheers and supports me with my Japanese studies and aids me with anything I may need, which I appreciate so much!
Best teacher out there 🩵🩵

I really appreciate how Ruri 先生 takes the time to remember things that we've talked about before. I told her recently that I was going on a business trip soon and today, we went over some office vocabulary and communication. Even though I won't be going to Japan, it's fun to go over and have it in my mind so that I can use it to talk about it in the future. I was also really excited to go over the Genki II grammar this week as あげる・くれる and もらう are words that I often hear, but am not confident in using. I really liked the way that Ruri先生 broke it down and explained it for me, including some contextual usage and their differences.

One thing I really enjoyed about my class with Ruri 先生 today was that we talked about a topic I wouldn't have expected to learn about in a textbook, which was eco / environmental words and activities. I feel like some of those words are ones that I would and could use in daily life and I really liked that we went over it and got speaking practice in with it as well.
After speaking practice we covered the next topic in Lesson 14 of the Genki II textbook, かもしれません。I feel like this grammar is one that I hear pretty frequently in anime but never quite understood how to use it. I'm really grateful to have Ruri 先生 guiding me as in the process of learning it, she encourages me to combine it with other grammar that I've been learning. I really notice the difference lately in being able to combine what I've learned.
