Hello everyone! I am Marcus and I live in Essen, Germany. I was born and raised in Wuppertal, which is close to Düsseldorf. I have originally studied physics and chemistry at university, but changed to English and Japanese after realizing how much I enjoy teaching and learning new languages. Now I am a self-employed full-time teacher. I am very interested in languages, science, IT, medicine, philosophy, psychology, self-development and entrepreneurship. However, I find it easy to talk about almost anything. Listening patiently is my biggest strength - so let's talk about your favorite topic, no matter what level you're at, how fast or slow you can speak, or how many mistakes you might make.Показать перевод

I have been teaching on Italki since March 2017. I can look back on teaching people from dozens of countries around the world. Young, old, children, teenagers, business people, students - people from all kinds of cultures and with unique expectations - so far more than 700 different people.
Additionally, I had been a student myself on Italki for about another two years before I became a teacher. I know how it feels like to attend your first lesson ever and what you need to have a fun, enjoyable and worthwhile lesson. In my classes we can talk about topics that are interesting and engaging. Any topic is fine and I will correct your mistakes, write them in the chat or on a Google Doc file, and expand your vocabulary. Don't worry about asking too many questions. I know how hard and frustrating learning a new language can be.
We can also talk about very specific things. You can tell me in advance which topic you want to talk about. I have coached many people on job interviews, but also helped them study for language certificates, such as Goethe, telc, TestDaf or DSH. If you want to study grammar, please tell me before the lesson which grammar you would like to study. I am very open to suggestions :)Мой учебный материал

I have been taking lessons with Marcus for over a year now. I learned a lot and my German has improved significantly even though I have never lived nor visited Germany in my life. Last week, I had a meeting with a German client and we only spoke German. My German was so good and convincing to the level where the client decided to assign the job to me. Take lessons with Marcus and spend time practicing and you will see your German skills improving in no time.

Wonderful first lesson. Marcus is an incredibly patient teacher, a very bright individual, and intuitive about your specific needs as a student. He was also non-judgmental about my mixed level in German and stepped in to help me whenever I needed help saying something. Very grateful to have found him!

My 1st lesson with Marcus was fun. We spoke entirely in German, using English only to clarify some words that I was unsure of. Marcus has a series of topics for conversation discussion stored on line — and this makes it easy to choose what to talk about. My primary need with German is practice with conversation — and my lesson with Marcus was perfect for this. I plan on working more with him in the future.

Heute haben wir die trennbare Verben geübt, es war sehr interessant, aber ein bischen schwer, weil ich mehr Vokabeln brauche, wenn ich die Übungen richtig machen möchte.
