Exactly one year ago today, I took my first italki lesson with Carlos. He is a great teacher - knowledgeable energetic, kind, patient, the list goes on, but what I really want to highlight is that learning Spanish with him has been a rewarding experience for me. I never wanted to learn Spanish, but due to some life changes, I found myself in Peru unable to speak the language. Within a few months of learning from Carlos, I went from zero to being able to communicate with people. The work that went into that was a lot from both our parts, but I’m grateful for all the lessons and his patience with me when I was frustrated with the language at times. He has also taught me a lot about Latin American culture and I have grown to have an appreciation for South America that I never had before. I have more than enough words to have full conversations with locals and live life now, but my goal has changed - I want to be fluent because Carlos has inspired me to be.

I have already taken formal classes. Now I need practice and reinforcement of what I've already learned. Carlos is aware that I want to work on listening, speaking and interacting, and we do this with discussions on interesting topics where he encourages a back and forth conversation (with his corrections along the way, verbally and also written when he can see that I don't quite understand). Until now I have been reticent to try speaking in Spanish and the sessions are definitely helping me to get past my fears. Sometimes I will worry about how it will go (because of me) but then the time flies by!

He‘s the nicest guy. Very patient, asks good questions and gives you plenty of space to talk. He’s really good at keeping the conversation to a level appropriate for your learning level. He‘s also a really fun teacher. I plan to take many more lessons with him!

Carlos is a very empathetic, intelligent, and patient teacher. I couldn’t ask for anyone better. He is full of energy, motivation, and passion, and he has a very unique and effective way of teaching. I started with him as an absolute beginner, and now, two months later, we can have two hours of conversation, including questions and answers. I absolutely recommend him as a teacher.

Carlos is a warm and engaging teacher, I would him recommend to anyone looking to improve their Spanish conversation skills!

This is my second lesson with Carlos and I’m so glad to have found a great teacher. He is patient, engaging and provides valuable knowledge for improving my Spanish whilst making it a fun and rewarding conversation. I can be quite shy and reluctant to speak so I don’t make mistakes but Carlos does a fantastic job with bringing me out of my shell and encouraging me despite my mistakes. Thank you Carlos and I look forward to our next lesson!
