Interesting conversations at your language level. My preferred way of learning and teaching languages is through conversation, songs and games. We can talk about the cultures of different countries, current affairs or about art, music, literature, film and TV. This is a good way of getting comfortable in a language and of using words and phrases that are actually useful. We can look at a song together and think about the words. Perhaps you can learn the words of songs by heart for your homework in order to memorise useful expressions.

I have a postgraduate teaching qualification from the Goetheinstitut but more important I have been learning and teaching languages nearly all my life so I have experienced both sides.
