Utilizzo spiegazioni senza soffermarmi troppo (a meno che non sia esplicitamente richiesto) sulla grammatica, ma avendo studiato greco antico e latino, se lo studente lo richiede, posso anche approfondire l'etimologia delle parole e della struttura delle frasi. I used to teach 12-year-old to 18-year-old students. I used explanations, avoiding focusing too much (unless it was explicitly required) on the grammar part. On the other hand, given that I studied Latin and ancient Greek, if the students wanted it, we could also examine in depth the etim of the words and the structure of the phrase.

Language is a communicative act and grammar plays a fundamental role in order to learn a language. It can't be, however, the only way to "achieve the objective".
