My name is Sofia and I’m a Greek language tutor and a native speaker of Greek. For my BA and MA, I studied Classics in Greece and abroad.Me as a Teacher
I have 9 years of experience in teaching modern and ancient Greek to children and adults of various levels, from absolute beginners to advanced students. In my lessons, we will practice all aspects of linguistic competence, namely writing, speaking, listening, and reading.
My goal while teaching is to maintain your enthusiasm and curiosity during this learning journey. I can guarantee that it’s going to be fun and that you will see results in the first months of our lessons.
But the most important thing for me is to make the lessons relevant to you and your interests.

• If you are a beginner, I will get you step-by-step on the path to fluency!
• If you are already an intermediate or advanced speaker, we can practice mostly speaking and writing.
• If your goal is to learn ancient Greek, I can construct lessons that are particular to your interests, and teach you the grammar and syntax of the language by focusing on either Classical, Byzantine or Biblical Greek.
• If your goal is to enhance your knowledge of Ancient Greek, I offer close-reading classes on any ancient writer of your choice.My teaching material

I’ve been doing lessons with Sofia since March 2024. Sofia is incredibly patient and caring while I’ve been learning Greek. Sofia and I have bonded over our Greek upbringings and had many laughs while storytelling. Sofia provides me with the necessary materials and resources in order to improve my Greek on a weekly basis. I’m very happy with my choice in choosing Sofia as my Greek tutor. I look forward to my weekly sessions and have seen my Greek improve in such a short amount of time!

Sofia is a great teacher! I just started learning the Greek language, but she has been helpful and motivating. Sofia is an amazing teacher. I always look forward to our lessons. I enjoy our time together and our conversations we have. She explains the Greek language so clearly and she has really helped me so much. She is very patient and kind, and doesn't get upset when you make mistakes. She encourages you and sees your true potential. I look forward to our next class.
