My name is Sofia and I’m a Greek language tutor and a native speaker of Greek. For my BA and MA, I studied Classics in Greece and abroad.

Me as a Teacher

I have 9 years of experience in teaching modern and ancient Greek to children and adults of various levels, from absolute beginners to advanced students. In my lessons, we will practice all aspects of linguistic competence, namely writing, speaking, listening, and reading. My goal while teaching is to maintain your enthusiasm and curiosity during this learning journey. I can guarantee that it’s going to be fun and that you will see results in the first months of our lessons. My lessons & teaching style

• If you are a beginner, I will get you step-by-step on the path to fluency! • If you are already an intermediate or advanced speaker, we can practice mostly speaking and writing. • If your goal is to learn ancient Greek, I can construct lessons that are particular to your interests, and teach you the grammar and syntax of the language by focusing on either Classical, Byzantine or Biblical Greek. • If your goal is to enhance your knowledge of Ancient Greek, I offer close-reading classes on any ancient writer of your choice.

Sofia is a gem of a teacher! I am genuinely so excited to have lessons with her each week! I am speaking so much more Greek as a result. With many mistakes, of course, but always corrected with a smile! My goal is to banish my shyness in speaking and be able to speak more to my great aunt in Athens when we visit her for Easter holidays. Sofia is absolutely helping me with this!
