Let's have fun in Korean with a certified teacher! :D Before I call myself a teacher, I'm a lifelong learner. I struggled with English at school like many of us. Years of learning, but still was not able to hold a conversation. So what made me change? It’s hard to expect someone to learn languages through random grammar or irrelevant vocabularies. How much do you think it will serve when you actually talk to people? It's about making personal connection. That’s what I realised when I nearly got my passport stolen while traveling Egypt. It made me speak, initiate and argue. I cared nothing but the conversation to deal with it. From then, I completely changed the way I learn. I'd like you to have the same attitude, like an angry backpacker.

TPRS (Fun and easy method) with 5 years of experience I had 3 years of teaching English to Koreans before I started teaching Korean. Because of these experiences, I assumed that teaching Korean would be easy for me. However, the reality was different from my imagination. Since I had never been a beginner in the Korean language, it was very hard for me to relate to the students. In the beginning, I had a hard time understanding how non-Koreans process Korean in their brain as a language. So, I had to put a lot of effort to see Korean sentences from the student’s perspective. Now with more experience, I have much more understanding of how students would feel when they encounter new sentences or expressions.

As a language teacher, I have to be explicit when interacting with my students. In such a way that will consistently improve cognitive development. As many know Rome wasn’t built in a day and that’s the same when learning Korean that’s why I have always emphasised to my students the necessity of consistency and patience when learning the Korean language.
