Discover what makes us different and the vastly important role of language in helping us to build empires In the lesson we will use evidence from the book to hold a debate around the historical reasons behind Homo Sapiens becoming the dominant species and discuss the concept of ‘imagined realities’

In this course we will read the international bestseller ‘Sapiens - A Brief History of Humankind’ by Yuval Noah Harari. We will read the book over 10 lessons. We will discuss the issues and ideas raised in the book. This is a fascinating book that explains the history of humanity from the beginning of our species until today. This course is perfect for anyone who is looking for a new and exciting way to improve their English. The course is perfect for university students and anyone with an interest in history. ***IMPORTANT - It is necessary to buy or download your own copy of the book and you will be asked to read a few chapters each week BEFORE the lesson*** ***IMPORTANT - this book is quite big, you will be required to read 2 chapters each week. For most people this means reading at least a few pages every single day!*** The course includes: - Interactive and communicate weekly lessons (10 lessons) - Homework assignments - Extra materials related to the book (videos, interesting articles etc.) - Online student community where you can ask questions and discuss important ideas In the lessons we will: 1. Hold deep and meaningful conversations based around the ideas in the book 2. Study useful vocabulary and collocations in context How It Works: READ: You read the appropriate chapters of the book BEFORE the lesson THINK: Each week there are questions about each chapter for you to think about and make notes on.
