‘My understanding is that the world doesn’t either understand what’s going on there or it’s being intentionally ignored and silenced.’ I heard someone saying this on a podcast show, and since I've never heard before to use ‘do/does not’ before ‘either/ or’, it sounds kind of strange to me. So can you tell me if there's anything grammatically incorrect there? Thanks!!

My understanding is that the world doesn’t (either) understand what’s going on there or it’s being intentionally ignored and silenced. "either" is optional in this case My understanding is that the world doesn’t understand what’s going on there or it’s being intentionally ignored and silenced. does not either = ni siquiera
