Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Children should be required to follow strict rules set by their parents. Raising children might be fun, but parenting can be a challenge for many people. Parents take different sides of whether they should require their children to strictly comply with rules set by them. In my opinion, following rules are good, but asking kids to obey rules to an extreme extent is unwise and unnecessary. My main points are that rules themselves might be improper or wrong, and that children should be allowed to try different ways and make mistakes. First, parents are not omniscient. It is possible that they set wrong rules for their children. For example, I used to require my children to eat mushrooms as they are nutritious and helpful for immune systems, until doctors stopped me because mushrooms are not good for her eczema. Hence, ask yourself what if I was wrong before making rules. Sometimes, children break rules for a reason that was beyond parents’ knowledge and experience. Second, children are not workers in factories. The best way for them to learn and grow is to explore the world in their own ways and make mistakes. Although I admit rules shape children behavior and discipline in a way, too much restrictions and regulations also limit a kid’s curiosity and boldness. I think it is ideal for parents to set explicit rules while giving children certain kind of freedom to follow. In conclusion, I believe in a more relaxing parenting approach, because parents might be wrong with their decisions and that too strict requirements might confine children’s exploring.

Mostly good. Do not make statements without support or examples.
