The languages used in Japanese social media which was mentioned as an example is already old and no one is using them anymore. Therefore, I realized how fast languages in social media are changing. However, I think the word “Pien” that was popular during the self-restraint period caused by the COVID-19 incident was a little different. Just as “Kawaii” is used all over the world, “Pien” was used not only Japan but all over the world. In addition, it was also impressive that emojis and songs were created based on it became a topic of conversation. Although languages in social media change all the time, now we’re getting more information and we can’t let go of our smartphones. Consequently, I think that they always have a lot of influence on us and live with us.

The example of languages used in Japanese social media is already outdated, and hardly anyone uses them anymore. This realization made me aware of how rapidly languages on social media platforms evolve. However, I found the word "Pien," which gained popularity during the self-restraint period caused by the COVID-19 incident, to be an exception. Similar to how "Kawaii" is used worldwide, "Pien" found usage not only in Japan but also globally. Furthermore, it was remarkable how emojis and songs were created based on it, making it a widespread topic of conversation. Even though languages in social media are constantly changing, we are now inundated with information, and our attachment to smartphones grows stronger. As a result, they continuously exert significant influence on us and have become an integral part of our lives.
