As for Christmas dinner in Japan, many people eat chicken and Christmas cake.You might be surprised, but around 20 years ago, one of the most popular Christmas dinners in Japan was Kentucky Fried Chicken. KFC is still very popular although that has been changing a little these days. I used to see long queues for KFC on Christmas Eve. These days, not only KFC but also many shops and restaurants sell Christmas chicken.

However, in Japan, Christmas is not a public holiday but is usually a normal working day, so although families with young children will celebrate together, young people spend Christmas, especially Christmas Eve, going out with their boyfriend or girlfriend in the evening.
