Hello Elly Han,

This is quite a controversial and delicate question but i will try to help you:

Emigration is the phenomenon of leaving one's own country, while immigration consists, instead, of arriving in another country.

So for example, i am Italian, if an Italian goes to USA, for Italians he is considered an emigrant (who left the country), but for the Americans he is an immigrant (who arrived to work and settle down there).

Hope my comment is useful for you.

Hi Elly Han,

Migration is movement from one place to another. It can apply to people or animals. Immigration and emigration are only for people, though.

Immigration means moving INTO a country. A good way to remember it is IMmigrants move IN.

Emigration means leaving a country. Emigrants EXIT a country.

So immigrants are people moving into a country, and emigrants are people moving out of it.

Hope this helps!

Immigration is the act of people coming INTO your country.

Emigration is the act of people LEAVING your country.

Migration is the general movement of people (which might be immigration and emigration)
