Fancy Spanish restaurants Nowadays in Spain cooking is in fashion. There are a lot of tv shows about cooking and food, even there are some contests for professionals and also for amateur people. Now you can find out that a lot of people, who in the past hated to get into the kitchen, currently are showing off of doing their own bread at home, for example. Fancy bars and restaurants have been created (with more or less luck) around the main cities of Spain. There are kind of expensive. Some of them offer a really good food, with impressive quality and surprising recipes for the cost. But in others you feel that they are stealing the money from you without regretting it because they are serving you standard quality food with overcharge. Those restaurants also use to have modern decoration, music and even a trendy lighting in tables and ceiling. The wines menu is usually as long as a toilet paper roll and expensive comparing it with the market prices. Couples and groups of friends who want to sit in the tables have to "match" the decoration: modern and expensive clothes, high heels and a good make-up. The strange thing is that normally, those places are full of people and for sure you can’t have dinner there if you haven’t reserved some days in advance. In my opinion, this kind of places could be fun for have diner with friends only if the prices is accordingly set for the quality and elaboration of the products.

Fancy Spanish restaurants

Nowadays in Spain cooking is in fashion. There are a lot of tv shows about cooking and food, there are even  some contests for professionals and also for amateur people. Now you can find out that a lot of people, who in the past hated to get into the kitchen,  are currently showing off by making their own bread at home, for example.

Fancy bars and restaurants have been created (with more or less luck) around the main cities of Spain. They are kind of expensive. Some of them offer a really good food, with impressive quality and surprising recipes for the cost. But in others you feel that they are stealing the money from you without regretting it because they are serving you standard quality food and overcharging.

Those restaurants also use to have modern decoration, music and even a trendy lighting over tables and on the ceiling. The wine menu (wine list) is usually as long as a toilet paper roll and expensive comparing it to market prices. Couples and groups of friends who want to sit at the tables have to "match" the decoration: modern and expensive clothes, high heels and a good make-up.

The strange thing is that normally, these places are full of people and for sure you can’t have dinner there if you haven’t reserved some days in advance.

In my opinion, these kind of places could be fun for having dinner with friends, only if the price is accordingly set for the quality and presentation of the products.

Hello Belen,

This is a good article about a common feature of lots of countries these days, it used to be called nouveau cuisine (new cooking) which basically meant a little food artistically arranged on a plate with a big price tag. (I am probably a food philistine!)

A couple of corrections of word order (green) the first one is to make it natural and the second one is because currently is an adverb and adverbs go before most verbs but after 'be'.

Hope this helps

Bob
