News "is" ? Not " are " ? Someone answered me " this is wonderful news". Is "news" always followed with singular verb ?

News is an uncountable noun and is always followed by a singular verb (is, was, has, etc). Example: "We have some good news for you?" "Do you? What is it?" ~~~ For the French "une nouvelle", we just say, "some news". Example: "I have some news for you" though we can also say, "I have a piece of news for you."

Some concepts which are plural in your language are uncountable nouns (="it") in English. As well as "news", the words "information" and "advice" are also uncountable and never treated as plural.
