My main task was to start speaking Finnish. I was so afraid to speak because of the language barrier and besides I had quite a narrow vocabulary. I was very nervous during my first lesson with Jenni, but she was super attentive, smiley, good-looking, smart and patient. Every lesson we touched different themes, so my vocabulary began to widen and my language barrier broke. I would like to mention that we had a very friendly vibe during our online sessions and I liked it a lot. No dominance, no pressure, no depreciation. Only respect, understanding and total support. I appreciate much how she was continuously trying to plant a seed of puhekieli in my head, because it is very important in everyday life. In the beginning I refused to pay attention to it, but then I got used to it. This soft transition was a surprise for me, but it's 100% Jenni's credit. Kiitos kovasti, Jenni!

I completed a trial lesson with Jenni as I am new to italki. Jenni was able to coach me through my nerves and help me practice my Finnish using a few words I already know. I am looking forward to my first official lesson with her soon!

I've really enjoyed working with Jenni! She is friendly but also provides constructive criticism where needed. I especially appreciate that she worked with me to find a learning plan that would be effective for me individually.

There are three main improvements I've experienced with Jenni. (1) I feel more confident when speaking Finnish to native Finns (2) I have an easier time initiating or facilitating conversation with other Finnish learners around my level (3) Our lessons have given me a lot of practice in keeping our conversations in Finnish, even when I forget or stumble on a phrase. It's really valuable to me that I avoid 'switching to english' every time there is a bump in the conversation, and Jenni has been very supportive in helping me build these skills.
