* Italki have increased their commission rates starting from 1 Feb 2025. Regrettably, this will mean my lesson prices will increase. Sorry :( * My name is David. I am a native English speaker from Cornwall in the South West of England. I lived in Swindon for three years and also Sorocaba, Brazil for five years. In the UK, I worked in a menswear store that sold suits and clothes, volunteered one day a week assisting adults with learning and mental difficulties on a farm and taught English online. I am mature and friendly with a good sense of humour. I am a very creative person, adaptable and good at coming up with ideas. My hobbies include photography, martial arts, yoga and history.

I have completed a 130 hour TEFL course. This course has given me the skills and knowledge to help students with their English by using different techniques, exercises and teaching materials. I also hold a teaching business English certificate. I have communicated with a plethora of people from around the world who have spoken a variety of languages and of different ages. I also hold an Enhanced Criminal Record Certificate, which allows me to work with vulnerable children and adults. I am currently learning Brazilian Portuguese, so if you are a Portuguese speaker and if you have some difficulties expressing yourself in English - I may be able to help you!

My lessons are relaxed and casual. We can discuss a variety of subjects and I can assist you while we speak. I can help you with different parts of the English language, such as spoken English or conversational practice, writing, listening, learning new vocabulary, improving your grammar and correcting and perfecting your pronunciation. We can also focus on different aspects within the English language, such as tenses, phrasal verbs, idioms, formal and business English, intonation and stress. I have helped students prepare for a variety of tests and exams at different levels. If there are other areas and subjects you would like to study, let me know. 😀 I hope to hear from you soon!

Teaching Business English Course - i-to-i TEFL - 2016I took a 130-hour online TEFL course from i-to-i TEFL which included a 10 hour Teaching Business English Course. The course taught me the theory of teaching English as a Foreign Language, to plan effective lessons, classroom management, practical teaching tips and teaching vocabulary and grammar. I completed modules and submitted and passed written assignments checked and marked by real tutors. I want to upload my 130-hour TEFL/TESOL training certificate but there is no option to do this.

David always helps me taking vocabularies out from my head and gives me various words describing similar situations or facts. I do enjoy learning English from him. He is one of the best ITALKI teachers, I believe.
