Prof Faiza

Every new lesson with Prof Faiza solidifies my belief that she is a very gifted teacher. I am taking both Arabic and French with her, and my skill level in those respective languages is quite different, yet she seamlessly switches to match me where I'm at, while at the same time encouraging me to challenge myself. I get very anxious when I don't know the answer to something, or don't know how to do something, and get very flustered and ridiculous, and Prof Faiza is SO patient with my silliness. I am learning to be okay with not being perfect, which has been a barrier for me in terms of learning not only languages, but new skills in general. I am growing increasingly comfortable with her, and I leave each lesson with a tangible feeling of having learned something new. The results are surprisingly immediate. I've been studying languages for years alone. A few months with Prof Faiza has already proven to be more useful. I am very lucky to have picked her out of all the teachers here!

A strong recommendation for anyone who really wants to learn the language and improve their knowledge. A real teacher with all the good attributes such as in-depth knowledge of the language, teaching skills, patience, giving good explanations which you then practice with her, but never boring. Excellent.

I continue to love my lessons with Prof Faiza! She's very knowledgeable about the technical aspects of a language, and at the same time will teach you the colloquial phrases, so you are learning how to speak in both an academic and conversational setting concurrently. She's always prepared for class, and has high, but not unreasonable expectations of her students. She will challenge you, but never makes you feel bad for not knowing something. I take both French and Arabic with her, and she is seamless in how she meets me at where I'm at in both languages, and occasionally will even incorporate both languages into a lesson to further my understanding and learning. Can't recommend her enough!!
