Shani

I could not say enough great things about Shani. I have just finished the first five basic Sinhala lessons with her. She has youtube videos, flashcards, quizzes, slides, resource sheets and more with her lessons. Her classes are more comprehensive and better structured than university classes that I took for language learning. She is a brilliant teacher who can always find a way to explain grammar and vocabulary in a way that is easy to understand. She makes sure you understand concepts by giving you an opportunity to come up with your own examples of sentences relating the grammar points. I am so happy with the amount of Sinhala I have been able to learn in a short time. Every week I look forward to my Sinhala classes. Shani is also very patient and kind, making class a joy to attend. :)

5 star instructor!! 👏🏻I’ve been studying with Shani for almost 2 months now and the growth she has helped me achieve amazes me. She’s professional, very knowledgeable, and polite. Her classes are incredibly structured so I always know what I’m going to be learning prior to each class and during class Shani is very communicative about expectations for each lesson. Two Things I really appreciate about her classes is one, she offers extra materials to help you study outside of class as well, which helps me since I don’t always know where to begin with studying on my own, and secondly, during class she makes an effort from Day 1 to speak mostly Sinhala to you. As someone who doesn’t always hear Sinhala spoken in everyday life, I really appreciate this as I’ve become more comfortable with hearing and understanding the language as it’s spoken in conversation. If you’re looking around for an effective well-trained Sinhala instructor, look no further! 5 stars!!

Shani is amazing, I can not recommend her enough! I’ve only done a few (9) Sinhala classes with her so far, but I am very impressed and will continue the lessons. The lessons (PowerPoint) are perfectly structured and well thought out! Because of this, you’re really expanding your knowledge every class and can see your Sinhala improving. Before classes with Shani I didn’t think I would ever be able to make a sentence ON MY OWN (so not repeating a weirdly phrased sentence from the Lonely Planet 😂) or to make myself understood in Sinhala before, but now I am starting to believe maybe I can! ♥️ I also love how pragmatic Shani is. She will explain the difference between an official word and the way it is used/pronounced in every day life, so you will sound much more natural when you speak AND be able to understand the local community a lot better. Again: i fully recommend taking her classes! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (If you are reading this Shani: thank you so much for everything and see you next class!)

Shani is nothing short of amazing. Her classes are fun, yet extremely effective. She has created a focused and logical approach to teaching Sinhala which feels so intuitive. Her lessons are accessible to beginners like myself but she is also able to explain technical concepts in detail. Her classes are complemented by a wealth of additional learning resources and she clearly cares very much about the quality of her teaching. We are very lucky to have found her! Thank you Shani!

The lessons are very good. There are good examples which help to practice and see what you do right and what you need to practice more. I feel I improve slowly.

Onto my 11th class with Shani and she is brilliant. Highly recommend
