Kickstart your English lessons with a trial lesson with me! 

In this trial lesson, we can discuss your current English level and learning goals. I will be able to show you my teaching style and look at how I can shape any future lessons around you!

This lesson is for students of any level, designed to suit your goals, interests and preferred learning style. These lessons are a blend of grammar exercises, reading and listening comprehension (I prefer authentic resources), optional written exercises to complete between lessons, and lots of speaking practice!

After we determine your goals, I will create lessons for you that will enable you to improve your English efficiently and have fun doing it!

I believe in a flexible and responsive approach to teaching, picking up on and responding to your mistakes and tailoring our next lesson to your needs so that you can make quick progress.

After the lesson, I will send you the lesson materials and detailed notes with the key vocabulary, grammar and corrections that we covered so that you can review these. 

Would you like homework? For students who have the time and desire, I will send you a task to complete before our next lesson so that the English fun doesn't stop! For written and grammatical exercises, I will give you corrections and feedback so you can learn from your mistakes and feel great!

📚 Beginner to Advanced English Lessons A1-C2 (Adults and teenagers)

Looking for an informal and relaxed setting to practise your English? 

In these sessions, we can talk about any topic you like and let the conversation guide itself around your interests. If you aren't sure what to talk about, I always come prepared with conversation starters and interesting topics that we can discuss. 

I will teach you useful vocabulary and idioms as they naturally arise in the conversation. I can also help you with your pronunciation so that you become a more confident and fluent speaker. Depending on your preferences, I can also correct you on your grammar and can explain key concepts or mistakes as they arise.

🗣️ Conversation Practice B1-C2 (Adults and teenagers)

Are you looking to take the IELTS test but would like support in reaching your goals? Whether you are seeking last minute practice before your exam or interested in a series of lessons to prepare you thoroughly in the skills and exam techniques you will need to succeed, I can help!

I will plan these sessions to fit your individual needs so that our time is focussed on the specific  exam or skill that you need the most help with. I have 12 years experience preparing students for standardised language exams and I have a great knowledge of the IELTS exam and how to best prepare for it.  Below is a breakdown of the four IELTS exams and the kind of activities and support you can expect in our sessions:

📚🎧 Reading and Listening
We will work through past paper questions together so that you get exposure to the different question types. In addition to correcting any misconceptions and teaching you new vocabulary, I will also be able to share best practice when it comes to exam technique and how to avoid common pitfalls. 

💬 Speaking 
I will ask you conversational questions to help you prepare for Part 1. We will also use past paper presentation prompts and follow up questions from Part 2 and Part 3 so that you feel confident speaking on a range of topics for 2 minutes. Throughout our session, I will help you with your pronunciation and fluency so that you feel confident for the exam.

✏️Writing
Using a shared document, we will respond to past paper questions together and I will coach you along the way and give you immediate feedback on your written English. As part of these sessions, I will set you optional written tasks to complete at home and I will give you written feedback and corrections.

📝 IELTS Test Preparation (Adults only)

Do you want to improve your American English pronunciation? I can help! 

As part of my degree, I enjoyed studying phonics and learned the International Phonetic Alphabet (the IPA), which helps learners understand the key sounds of any language. 

Once we determine which sounds of American English you find difficult to produce, I will create a tailored plan of lessons. In our sessions, we will train your mouth, lips, jaw, and tongue to create the right sound every time so that you can speak English confidently and clearly.

After each session, I will send you practice exercises to complete at home along with a recording so that you can listen and repeat as part of your training. 

Improving your pronunciation is the key to developing your confidence and I strive to make it a fun and enjoyable addition to your English study program! 

Please note:   Due to the nature of the sessions, I recommend booking 30 minute lessons. (Your mouth might want a break!)
