Advanced English

Lesson Title: Meeting Someone for the First Time

Lesson Description:
In this 60-minute lesson, students will learn how to talk to someone for the first time. They will practice introducing themselves, saying where they are from, and asking others about their background. The lesson will help students become more confident when starting conversations with new people.

Learning Goals:
- Talk to someone for the first time
- Introduce yourself
- Say where you are from
- Ask people where they are from

Grammar Focus:
- Subject + Verb + Object structure for basic introductions
  - Example: I am a student

- Question form for asking others about themselves
  - Example: Where are you from?

Lesson Structure:
1. Warm-Up (10 minutes):
   - Students will practice introducing themselves to each other with simple phrases like:
     - Hello, my name is [your name]
     - I am from [your country]

2. Presentation (15 minutes):
   - The teacher will introduce key vocabulary and phrases for meeting someone for the first time.

Grammar focus:
     - Subject + Verb: I am [name]

Question Structure: Where are you from?

3. Practice (20 minutes)
   - Pair work: Students will take turns introducing themselves and asking their partner where they are from using the target language.

   - Example conversations:
     - Hi, I’m Sarah. Where are you from?
     - I’m from Spain. What about you?

4. Role-Play Activity (10 minutes)
   - Students will role-play meeting each other for the first time in different scenarios (e.g., at school, at a party)

5. Wrap-Up (5 minutes):
   - Review what students have learned and practice any tricky phrases or grammar structures

- Be verb (am/is/are) for introductions
  - I am a teacher / You are from Spain

- Wh-questions (Where) to ask about someone's origin
  - Where are you from?
