THE NEW CHINESE HSK EXAM Old and present. HSK 1.0 (Old HSK) The HSK (original) test utilized from 1990-2009, consisted of 3 sub-examinations: HSK elementary intermediate, basic and advanced. The HSK 1.0 exams are mainly aimed at Asian learners. A marking system from level one to eleven was used, with level eleven being almost impossible to overtake without a background Asian language. The exam was often criticized by English students for being impractical and using a lot of obscure society and historical references. HSK 2.0 (Current HSK) In the past, the HSK test undergo big revisions to kowtow to the mandarin skill standards released in 2007, the new designs were introduced, Chinese vocabulary needs were substantially lowered, the grading system was re-created, and writing started to have a very heavyweight. The exam was released as the current HSK in 2010, which is the variant of the test still being used now. In the present HSK system, the exam taker’s skill of mandarin is measure through HSK 6 levels from HSK one to HSK six. HSK 2.0 test gained huge success for its lowered end requirements and soft learning curve. According to the exam coordinator in 2019 alone, more than 800K students took the HSK exam from 1225+ centers across the world. What’s New HSK means for you like a leaner? For most learners, changes to the HSK have slight or no impact on their studies. Keep in mind, the HSK is only a measurement of your language ability and is flawed at that. Unless must need an HSK certificate for a special purpose, you don’t need to care much about HSK at all, and you can safely ignore every discussion about what might or mightn’t occur a few years down the line. Let’s speak about New HSK, but let’s do it rationally without freaking out over how many Chinese phrases a certain standard now has or the fact that the test will now test handwriting specifically.
