I like the song, "Thank Goodness" from the musical, Wicked. I'd like to make sure about the following lyrics meaning of the song. One of the heroine, Grinda sings "I couldn't be happier." That sounds unhappy, but at that time, she was on the top of the happiness because she engaged. I assume that she'd like to sing how happy she is. (The lyrics of "I couldn't be happier" is synonymous with "super happy"?) Is that correct? PS: I can't wait Ariana Grande's Wicked is on the screen.

I couldn't be happier = I'm extremely happy The "couldn't be" means that the speaker is already so happy that it's simply impossible to add more happiness. Like if a glass is full to the brim, it couldn't be more full.

I couldn't be happier = I'm so happy that there is no possibility of being happier, i.e. I'm already as happy as possible.
