Do you have any suggestion for Polish site dealing with Polish language?

Dear all,

I am an Italian native speaker but I know also English and Russian. I am going to study Polish alone since I will not have the possibility to attend Polish lessons.

I would like to find out some useful materials on the Net dealing with grammar and pronunciation. Do you have any advice?

Hi,

as for grammar, you can check this book: http://slaviccenters.duke.edu/projects/grammars

and this Polish site (in English): http://grzegorj.interiowo.pl/gram/en/gram00.html

I believe both are pretty boring but quite solid. Both have also some info about pronounciation (the first one also has 'xray' pronounciation charts, that some people may fnd very useful).

Although Polish is not 'read as you write, write as you read' type of language, pronounciation is not very hard (after you learn those few sounds you can't find in Italian, English and Russian). At the beginning I advice you to check example words from above books here: http://forvo.com/ - for most popular words there are few recordings made by various native speakers.

You can download some Polish books from here: https://new.vk.com/topic-76372243_30744804, but these books are totally in Polish and I believe they are meant to use with a teacher.

I guess Duolingo also gives you basic info on grammar, pronounciation and vocabulary.

I also found this basic course, but again I'm not sure if it's easy to learn on your own from it: http://www.popolskupopolsce.edu.pl/kurs-jezyka-polskiego

@Andrzej:

Thanks for your help. I have already studied Russian but now I am going to study basic Polish without going to university.

At the moment my main book is Polski jest cool,but you know, it's a bit scary, but with the right sources will be easier :-)
