Coldplay "Hypnotized" song lyrics: don't understand one part! Help!

Saying it's the very same steeple

People want to chose

They just see it from different views

Here's a full verse for you to have a context:

It's easy to be lethal

I'm learning from the news

It's a guidebook for the blues

Saying it's the very same steeple

People want to chose

They just see it from different views

And threading the needle

Fixing my flame

Oh now I'm moved to exclaim

Oh again, and again

How it can be interpreted - people want to chose the same steeple?...

Anny-

It could be a very deep meaning to the members of the band who wrote the lyric. I see it a couple of different ways-

1. It could be a religious reference making sarcasm toward religion meant a couple ways- 1. People stand behind their religion in cases of doing something or believing something that the writers disagree with. 2. News is religion to some people and they follow it blindly.

2. It could be just a simple play on the idea that "You say tomato, I say tomaato." In other words, maybe the ubiquitous "they" want us all to see things the same "their way" but people want to choose- to see things differently but feel forced to see "the same steeple" as everyone else.

I've got no idea. There are hidden meanings and stories behind their lyrics. One day you might be able to find the meaning behind the lyrics online somewhere but until then, why not study something a little less cryptic?

Well Ismael, I understand the meaning of "steeple", I don't understand it in the context given!

Steeple is a church tower (the pointy part). It's a noun so use it as you would with any other noun.

 For example:

You can see the steeple off on the distance, as the sun slowly rises from behind.

The tourists stared in awe when they saw the ancient steeple and how well taken of it was within the last few centuries.

I hope this helps! You can also google steeples and see some pictures too!
